Where curiosity meets innovation
Welcome to the Abrol Lab! We are a computational biophysical chemistry group at California State University, Northridge, dedicated to understanding the molecular mechanisms of G protein–coupled receptors (GPCRs). Our research focuses on using and developing computational methods to study protein structure, dynamics, and function at the atomistic level. By combining molecular modeling, molecular dynamics simulations, and data-driven analyses, we aim to uncover how GPCR conformational changes influence drug binding and signal transduction. Our work contributes to the broader goal of advancing rational drug design and deepening our understanding of fundamental biochemical processes.

Information for students interested in joining the lab
Students from Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Physics, Math, and Computer Science will find highly multi-disciplinary research opportunities in the Abrol Lab. Our research focuses on developing computational methods to understand the molecular mechanisms behind cellular signaling.
Prior experience with computer programming is not necessary—students should simply be open to learning programming as part of their research. Joint research opportunities are also available, combining structural modeling of proteins with biochemical and biophysical experiments.
